This is a quick tutorial on how to subscribe to your Táve calendar feeds from the Apple Calendar (iCal) app so that your Táve events will show up alongside your other Apple calendars.
Creating Your Calendar Feeds in Táve
The first step is creating the Táve calendar feeds you’d like to use. You can create a number of different feeds based on your needs. For example, you can create feeds that will show only specific Event Types, Job Types and even only events in which a specific contact in your Address Book is an attendee. If you’d like to give someone a more private feed of just your availability shown as simply “busy” or “free”, you can do that too.You can create these feeds in Settings › Calendar Settings by clicking on the New Calendar Feed button as shown below.
You can now customize the following in each Táve calendar feed you create:
Kind: Availability (Busy/Free), Only Confirmed Events, Only Tentative Events, All Events
Event Type: Restrict the feed to only include specific account Event Types
Job Type: Restrict the feed to only include specific account Job Types
Brand: Restrict the feed to only include specific account Brands
Attendee: Choose from any existing contact in your Address Book or create a new one on the fly (see more on creating calendar feeds for event attendees).
The last option is to restrict the feed to show only the past 3 months of history, as opposed to the default showing the entire history of events, if you prefer this option.
Once you’ve saved the new calendar feed, you’ll see a URL created:
These URLs are what we will need later to setup the feed subscription in Apple Calendar.
Adding Your Calendar Subscription in Apple Calendar
Once you open Apple Calendar, you can subscribe to a calendar by going to File › New Calendar Subscription. Now, head over to your Táve calendar feed settings and copy the URL of the feed you’d like to subscribe to. You’re going to paste it into the window that pops up in Apple Calendar.
After you click Subscribe, you'll be able to customize the details:
IMPORTANT NOTE: When deciding the Location of where to save your calendar subscription in the Apple Calendar application, do NOT select iCloud. Save it On My Mac. If you save it to iCloud, it will show up on all your iCloud devices but iCloud servers do NOT refresh those calendars. It is better to subscribe separately on each of your devices. Customizing Your Calendar Subscription
Upon subscribing, you’ll notice that you can modify the name of the calendar in addition to its color. To get the calendar’s alerts or event attachments, you’ll want to deselect the appropriate Remove checkboxes. To update your subscription when changes to it are published more frequently, you can choose a more frequent time in the Auto-Refresh setting. We recommend choosing every 5 minutes to ensure that your feed updates constantly. To make changes to your Táve calendar settings from within Apple Calendar at a later time, click the name of the calendar and choose Edit › Get Info.
